Traveling the World in Retirement!

South America Trip Planning Tools

In preparation for our adventure in South America, I utilized to new tools: Monday.com and Google Maps. These two tools helped me map out the path we would take and keep track of all the details that go into putting together a trip of this scope.

With Google Maps, I was able to map out the most efficient method of traveling over the continent. Our trip would included eight flights, one cruise around Cape Horn and an Amazon excursion.

With Monday.com, which I learned about from the Retirement Traveller’s is a great tool to keep track of all the details for a trip. It has free and paid versions. At the moment, the free version provides enough flexibility for me to layout the columns I need and to create a platform and repository for transportation, accommodations, and other details. I also added a column for costs. Monday.com has an export feature that allows me to transfer my information to my Excel spreadsheet for budgeting.

Having worked with similar tools in my past, the learning curve was not too steep. The initial design replicates for future trip planning. In addition, Monday.com has an accompanying app that can be downloaded to your phone so that you have access to all the information and booking receipts and paperwork.

Both of Monday.com and Google Maps provide me the tools I need to start the planning process of any trip.
